Connor Rolled Over!

During our Trip to Utah in July, Connor showed off at Great Grandma Parker's house by rolling over for the first time! As you can tell from the video above, we were all very excited. Connor is about 3 1/2 months old here. Way to go!!!

2007 Jazz and Ribs Festival

During a beautiful summer day in Columbus, we decided to drive downtown and attend Columbus' annual Jazz and Ribs Festival...YUM! It was determined that over 500,000 people attended this year, which made this the largest rib festival in America! Over thirty ribbers from around the nation served 100,000 pounds of ribs! We also were able to listen to some great music while sampling some tasty food.

Fourth of July in Ohio

For the 4th of July, we went to downtown Groveport, Ohio to watch a parade. Connor seemed to enjoy the floats passing by. That evening, we were able to watch fireworks with friends across town in Hilliard. We expected Connor to be scared of them because of the sound, but he seemed to really enjoy them.

Farewell Jordan!

Nathan, Jordan, and Jacob - Manti Temple
Jordan with Mom and Dad

I can't believe it's already time for Jake's younger brother, Jordan to leave on his mission to Iowa! I have great confidence that he will be an excellent missionary and help bring the gospel to those he comes in contact with. He's always been such a great example to our family. We'll miss you Jordan!

"Why Do You Keep Taking My Picture Mom?"

Ever since Connor was born, he's had this "ruffled brow" look, as if he's concentrating on something. The nurses first noticed it in the hospital, and it continues to this day. We hope this means he'll be studious!

Connor's First Few Smiles for the Camera

It’s hard to believe Connor is already a little over 2 months old. He’s already starting to smile and laugh. People have given us mixed opinions about who he looks like more, but I think he’s a good mix of the two of us. What do you think?

Our Move to Ohio

Downtown Columbus

When Connor was about 6 weeks old, our family moved to Columbus, Ohio for Jake to pursue his career in the field of property management. Jake, his brother Jordan, sisters Laurel and Aubrey, and his parents drove our belongings from Boise, Idaho to Columbus, Ohio. With the help of my sister and parents, Connor and I flew (thank goodness!) to our new home in Ohio. We've really loved living here so far. The people here have really welcomed us to the area. We've also been infected with Buckeye Fever!!! GO BUCKS!!!

The Baby Mullet

When Connor was born, Jake and I were shocked that he actually had some hair, being that he and I were both bald for the first year of our lives. Of course, as most babies do, Connor has started to lose some of the hair he was born with and now has the look of a elderly, balding man. He's even beginning to look as if he has a mullet!

Connor Found His Thumb

I just couldn't resist posting this picture. The other day before his nap, Connor was kind of fussy and he hadn't quite figured out how to take a pacifier yet so he started putting his hands in his mouth. After a few minutes, he stuck his thumb in his mouth. Needless to say, he hasn't found it since then, which is probably a good thing. Mom and Dad hope he doesn't make this a habit, but it was sure cute!

Connor's Favorite Sleeping Position

For the first few weeks of Connor's life, it seemed like the only place he wanted to sleep was on Mom's shoulder. Looks at those cheeks! He's really plumping up fast!

Put 'Em Up!

Connor had us laughing so hard the other day. After Jake finished changing his diaper he fell asleep in this random position. Usually, he likes to be swaddled and held really tight, but I guess he was just too tired to wait for all of that.

Our First Family Photo

When Connor was 3 weeks old, we were able to drive down to Utah to visit Jake's side of the family for Grandpa Blackham's funeral. We were nervous the drive from Boise to Utah would be difficult with a new baby, but he slept for almost the entire 6 1/2 hour drive. I was grateful to catch up on some much needed zzzzz's myself.

Tribute to Grandpa Blackham

Ernest LaMont Blackham, Jacob's grandfather and Connor's great grandfather passed away April 30, 2007 of natural causes surrounded by his family. He was born in Moroni, Utah on January 11, 1917 to Ernest Theron and Lucy Draper. He married his beautiful wife, Olive Olsen in the Manti Temple on June 14, 1939. They enjoyed almost 68 years together before LaMont passed away.

He was a devoted husband and father to his 9 children. He has 38 grandchildren and 64 great grandchildren. He has been a great example to those around him, especially to his family. He has been a hard worker and will be dearly missed. LaMont’s spirit will live on in his children and grandchildren.

Rubber Band Boy

I've always envied babies with their extreme flexibility... We seem to find Connor in this sleeping position quite frequently since we've brought him home.

Welcome to the World Connor!

On April 16, 2007, we welcomed the birth of our first child, Connor Matthew Blackham. He was 7 lbs and 19 3/4 inches long. After about 20 hours of labor, he was born at 11:23pm at St. Luke's hospital in Boise, Idaho. Being the first grandchild on both sides of the family, he is quite spoiled. We sure do love him!
